Ok now. This week is weird at stage. My stage supervisor who is the president of the company, is in new york for a week. When I got there on Monday I had a bunch of brochures and some printed pages on my side of the big table. On top of all that was a binder with a label that read: "the HUGO manual, To be Completed". I have no idea what that is about. Jason phones in every morning from new york to give Dave his tasks. I think he's forgotten about me. So i'm stuck doing little itty bitty jobs. Here's a chronological run down of my tasks since last monday:
januray 21st 2001
My first day was my favorite day. They gave me my crappy computer and told me to learn PHP. So i did. And that's all I did. And I liked it. until...
januray 22nd 2001
Using a poor man's voice conference tool (i.e. speaker phone), Jason gave us all our tasks for the day. I was supposed to search the internet and learn everything about shipping modules. Needless to say, doing research on the interner is very tedious (read boring). So just as I was getting on to something, I was called upon to translate an english website error page to french. It was fairly easy since I'm just done an introductory course to translation. Oh, I almost forgot, right before that I had to do some work with Xcel and that was basically entering a list of 20 websites into a worksheet. Later on during the day Dave asked me to debug a website whose images weren't showing. That was easy, the img sources weren't relative paths. By that time it was the end of my day and Jason called me into his office to report to him what I had learned concerning shipping modules. It was a very stressful situations that shouldn't have been.
january 23rd 2001
I continued my research on shipping modules for an hour until they asked to once again, you guessed it, translate webpages. So i did that and it took me like 90 minutes since it was like 5 webpages.
Right after, they asked me to use the brand new scanner they had just bought 3 minutes earlier to scan 5 pages to *.pdf format. So I did.
At the end of the day I had to type some word document for Jason. IT was basically a form following this format for a list of hotels that he needs for one of his clients. The format was like this:
French Link:[insert link]
English Link: [insert link]
Reservations Link: [insert link]
What reservations i asked? Apparently, I don't need to know.
This week is a bit less painful. I will keep updating.

This is my Stage Blog. Here, I will be posting what I do everyday at my hella boring internship. i might change stage so it is very possible that my original theme (miserable jobs) might become its exact opposite. With hopes of letting you know how small companies exploit their interns, keep coming back.
Someone hold me...
